@OhioWSoccer Adds Seven For 2017 Season

ATHENS, Ohio – The Ohio women’s soccer team welcomed seven new members to the program for the 2017 season, head coach Aaron Rodgers announced today. Ohio welcomes Victoria Breeden (Hudson, Ohio), Sarina Dirrig (Powell, Ohio), Paige Knorr (Cincinnati, Ohio), Sydney Malham (Nashville, Tenn.), Kylie McCue (Weston, Fla.), Paige Pappanastos (Orland Park, Ill.) and Jennifer Santacaterina (Geneva, Ill.).

Breeden was a multi-sport athlete at Hudson High School, where she lettered in soccer, track and cross-country. In her three years playing as a defender, Breeden was a two-time All-Northeast Ohio Conference first-teamer and led her team to the district finals each year. Breeden played for a local club team, the Ambassadors, out of Ohio. Breeden is a transfer from Tennessee Tech and will be coming in to the program as a sophomore. In her college career, Breeden has played in 13 games, starting in five of those, and tallied two shots, one of those being on goal, and one assist.

Dirrig played for Classics Eagles Red for 10 years under coach Brandon Koons along with her high school team, Olentangy Liberty, under coaches Kristen McMahon and Hillary Kuhlman. Dirrig earned 2014 OCC Central Conference Special mention, 2015 OCC Central Conference First Team, All-District First Team, All-Ohio Second Team, 2015 American Family Insurance Athlete of the Week, Columbus Dispatch Girls Soccer Super 12 First Team, Columbus Dispatch Athlete to Watch, and 2016 OCC Buckeye Conference First Team, along with All-District Second Team. In her high school career, Dirring started in 80 of 81 varsity games, scored 50 goals and tallied 19 assists. She was also a four-year varsity letter winner. Dirrig led her team to three District Championships, one Regional Championship and an OHSAA Division I State Semifinal. Daughter of John and Roopande, Sarina has one brother, Spencer, and one sister, Raya.

Knorr played for Ohio Elite Soccer Academy under coaches Doug Bracken and Tim Lesiak, along with her high school team, Oak Hills, under coaches Chuck Laurmann and Kevin Spraul. Knorr racked up 41 goals and 72 assists in her club career with Ohio Elite. Knorr received Second Team All Conference and First Team All Conference in 2015 and 2016, respectively. Knorr was named GMC Player of the Year in 2016, along with First Team All-City, All-Regional Team and Offensive Player of the Year. Knorr was named the second all-time leading scorer in Oak Hills high school history in 2016 and led her team to back-to-back GMC Championships (2015-2016). She earned Disney 3v3 national runner-Up honors in 2011 and was named national champion in 2012. Knorr also totaled 43 goals and 37 assists in her high school career at Oak Hills. Daughter of Christopher and Lori, Paige has one brother, Todd, and two sisters, Heather and Lindsey.

Malham played for Tennessee, Harpeth and Bentwood club teams under coaches Stuart Brown, Kyle Roelke and Amanda Martin, along with Franklin Road Academy under coaches Ken McDonald and Chris Price. Malham was a three-time State Champion (2014-2016), as well as a Regional Premier League Central Champion (2014). Malham had a career goals against average in high school of 1.27 (92 games over four years), and tallied 37 shutouts. She is the daughter of Arnie and Anne and has one brother, Brick.

McCue played for Crew Juniors as well as Sunrise Sting soccer under head coach Scot Shewey along with her high school team under coach Kate Dwyer. McCue was a Regional Finalist in her junior and senior year at Cypress Bay high school, as well as a two-time State Cup Finalist (2015-2016). Her club team, Sunrise Sting, reached fifth in the nation in 2016. McCue garnered four varsity letters during her time playing soccer at Cypress Bay. Daughter of Ryan, who played soccer for BGSU from 1992-1996, and Julie, Kylie has one brother, Colin, and one sister Kaitlin.

Pappanastos played for Naperville Soccer Association and currently plays for Chicago International soccer club under head coach Sena Halilovic, along with Carl Sandburg high school under coach Katie O’Connell. Pappanastos was a five-time Illinois State Select Player (2011-2015), two-time Region II Select Pool Player (2012-2013) and an ODP National Tournament Finalist in 2015. Pappanastos also led her former club team to championships in the Illinois State Cup in 2013 and 2015, a National Championship Final Four appearance (2013), Region II Regionals from 2013 to 2015 and a Region II championship in 2013, along with a championship in the Disney Showcase (2016). Pappanastos didn’t play high school soccer her first two years as she wanted to focus her time on Club soccer. In her first year on the high school team, she brought her team to a Conference Championship, a Regional Championship and a Sectional Finals appearance. Daughter of George and Sofia, Pappanastos has two sisters, Elena and Kristiana.

Santacaterina played for Eclipse Select soccer club under coaches Rory Dames, Mike Nesci and Chris King. Santacaterina led her club team to an eighth place finish at ECNL Nationals in 2013, along with making the ECNL Playoffs from 2014 to 2016. Daughter of Mike and Mary Ellen, Santacaterina has two brothers, Michael and Daniel, and two sisters, Jackie Manny and Bri.
