ATHENS, Ohio – The Ohio women’s soccer team will take on Valparaiso for its final exhibition match of the preseason on Friday, Aug. 12. First-kick is set for Noon in Valparaiso, Ind.
LAST TIME OUT
In the Bobcats’ preseason opener on Aug. 8, Ohio defeated Northern Kentucky 2-1 on goals by Hannah Jaggers and Remi Eades. The Norse jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the first period when NKU's Jessica Frey scored in the 20th minute when she kicked a ball from close to left wing into the upper right corner. The Bobcats fought back when junior Jaggers tallied an unassisted goal past the Norse goalkeeper for Ohio in the 58th minute to tie-up the game at 1-1. The Norse were aggressive on defense but could not stop a goal by Eades on a shot from the top of the box on an empty net on an assist by Jaggers resulting in an Ohio victory.
This will be the second meeting between the Bobcats and the Crusaders. The two squads battled in an exhibition game at Chessa Field to conclude Ohio’s preseason competition on Aug. 14 last season. The match ended in a 1-1 tie with an Ohio goal by Carly Manso in the 42nd minute.
Valparaiso’s Sarah Ludwig scored to tie up the game in the 48th minute.
The Crusaders are coming off of a 7-8-3 2015 season, where they went 4-2-2 in Horizon League play. The Crusaders would suffer a 2-1 loss to Wright State in the Horizon League Tournament to conclude the 2015 season.
Valparaiso posted 28 goals in the 2015 season earning a .098 shot percentage as a team. The Crusaders averaged 15.9 shots per game. April Cronin led the squad with seven goals, 17 points and three assists on the season. Valparaiso returned 18 letter winners from last year’s team including Cronin, a two-time First Team All-League honoree.
The Crusaders began the 2016 season with an exhibition match against Western Illinois on Tuesday, Aug. 9 where they would record a 4-2 victory.

NEW KIDS ON THE BLOCK
The Bobcats have added seven new student-athletes to the mix this fall, welcoming Alivia Milesky (Plain City, Ohio), Olivia Sency (Medina, Ohio), Remi Eades (New Albany, Ohio), Courtney Daugerdas (Libertyville, Ill.), Sydney Leckie (Medina, Ohio) and Alli Miller (Dayton, Ohio).
BOBCATS ADD A TRANSFER
The Bobcats added transfer Bryce Hueber (Cincinnati, Ohio) to the roster this offseason.
Hueber, a midfielder played two seasons for Wright State. In 2015 she was named All-Ohio and first-team All Horizon League. The Cincinnati, Ohio native played and started in 19 games and scored six goals with two coming against Youngstown State. She also registered three assists with 62 shots, 25 on goal. She was also responsible for four game winning goals. As a freshman in 2014 she was named to the Horizon League Freshman Team. She played in 17 games with 19 shots on goal, three goals and one assist and finished the season with seven total points.
Last season, Ohio finished with a 5-13 record, going 3-4 at home and 2-9 on the road. The Bobcats tallied 17 goals in 18 games on the season, averaging .94 goals per game. Ohio also tallied 11.5 shots per game and 69 total corner kicks. Hannah Jaggers recorded one goal on the season as well as 31 shots while Alexis Milesky recorded four goals on 26 shots leading Ohio in the 2015 season.
Ohio will kick off the 2016 regular season on Aug. 19, against Butler. First-kick is set for 7 p.m. in Indianapolis, Ind.
