Ohio Swimming and Diving Set to Host Intra-Squad Meet Homecoming Weekend

ATHENS, Ohio – The Ohio swimming and diving team opens the 2017-18 season with the annual Green and White intra-squad meet at 10 a.m. on Saturday (Oct. 7).

"We are so excited to kick off our season with our Green and White meet on Saturday," fourth-year head coach, Rachel Komisarz-Baugh said. "The team has been training extremely well and I'm been very impressed with their focus. They have set high goals for themselves and their work ethic is showing their determination.  It's inspiring and I can't wait to see them in action."

The Bobcats graduated four seniors last spring, Myriah Ariza-Balter, Josie Barker, Laura Dawson, and Carrie Dukes and welcome six new freshmen to the roster. Carolyn Bischoff (New Hudson, Mich.), Courtney Chapin (Bradenton, Fla.), Katherine Garrity (Eagan, Minn.), Samantha Glass (Villa Hills, Ky.), Abigail Jordan (West Chester, Ohio), Katelyn O'Brien (Williams Bay, Wis.), and Hannah Schlegel (Birdsboro, Pa.) all look forward to making their college debut this season.

Ohio returns seniors Katie Lemen (Carmel, Ind.), Elena Patz (Waunakee, Wis.), and Caroline Raley (Mobile, Ala.). This year's junior class consists of nine including Emily Davis (Lexington, Ky.), Olivia Dillon (Newcastle, Aus.), Ana Henderson (Danville, Calif.), Mackenzie Hornstra (Naperville, Ill.), Nicole Hughes (Cleveland, Ohio), Emily Ortner (Concord, Calif.), Corrin Van Lanen (Green Bay, Wis.), Lexie White (Waxhaw, N.C.), and Maddie Wyke (Columbus, Ind.). There are also nine sophomores on the roster consisting of Mackenzie Caruthers (Hilliard, Ohio), Annie Gosselin (Naperville, Ill.), Mikayla Herich (Hebron, Ky.), Emilia Lahtinen (Ylojarvi, Finland), Ireland Littlejohn (Grand Rapids, Mich.), Claire Mikesell (Clearfield, Pa.), Katherine Redden (Fort Thomas, Ky.), Riley Tuck-Macalla (Bay Village, Ohio), and Emily Zimcosky (Smock, Pa.).

The Bobcats finished the 2016-17 season at the Mid-American Conference Championships with a fifth-place finish and a total of 304 points scored. Akron was named champion with a final total of 750 points earned.

Van Lanen was named First Team All-MAC and sophomore Zimcosky to the Second Team after their performances throughout the week.

The Bobcats look to beginning the fall portion of the 2017-18 regular season when they travel to Youngstown, Ohio to face Youngstown on Saturday, Oct. 21 at 1 p.m.
