ATHENS, Ohio – Junior swimmer Corrin Van Lanen was named the Mid-American Conference Swimmer/Diver of the Week for her performance in the Bobcat's opening week of Oct. 16.
Van Lanen (Green Bay, Wis.) led the Bobcats to a 202-96 victory over the Youngstown State Penguins (Oct. 21) where she recorded four of Ohio's eleven first-place finishes and helped the team secure the first win of the 2017-18 season.
Van Lanen logged her first win as the lead of the 200-yard medley relay where they finished with a time of 1:47.34. She then went on to win the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 51.89 and the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 56.07. Van Lanen finished the afternoon with a win in the 400-yard freestyle relay where she finished as the anchor with a time of 3:36.46.
Van Lanen and the Bobcats return to action Saturday, Oct. 28 when Ohio travels to Muncie, Ind. to compete against MAC West foe, Ball State. The meet is set for 12 p.m. inside the Cardinals' Lewellen Aquatic Center.
