ATHENS, Ohio – The Ohio track and field team plans to split up over two meets this weekend as some of the squad travels to Hillsdale, Mich. to compete at the Hillsdale Gina Relays (April 27-28) and the rest head to Mid-American Conference rival, Miami, to compete at the Redhawk Invitational (April 28).
Hillsdale College will host the 52nd annual Hillsdale College Gina Relays this weekend inside the Frank "Muddy Waters Stadium. The Bobcats look to compete against more than 1,000 talented track athletes including conference rivals Central Michigan, Western Michigan, Eastern Michigan, and Ball State. The Power 5 conferences will also be represented by athletes from Notre Dame and Michigan State.

The Bobcats are coming off a weekend where they competed at the 2018 Jesse Owens Classic hosted by Ohio State. Senior Ellen Isaac recorded a win in the 5K and junior Emily Deering, senior Jordan Porter, freshman Abby Moore, and senior Emma Ryan all recorded season-bests in their events.
In the 100m dash, freshman Abby Summers (Powell, Ohio) finished first for Ohio with a final time of 12.71 to place 26thoverall. Summers also finished first for the 'Cats in the 200m dash with a time of 25.47.
Sophomore Marissa Handel (Highland Heights, Ohio) recorded a 400m dash time of 57.08 to place 14th overall.
In the 800m dash, junior Emily Deering (Geneva, Ohio) placed in the top-10 with a final time of 2:10.45 and auto-qualified for the MAC Championships with the third-fastest time in the MAC.
In the 1500m, sophomore Melissa Koziol (Burton, Ohio) was the first finisher for the 'Cats with a final time of 4:37.77.
Senior Ellen Isaac (Mansfield, Ohio) secured the win in the 5K with a final time of 17:16.39.
In the 100m hurdles, Mya Hodge (Dublin, Ohio) placed 10th with a final time of 14.57.
In the shot put championships, senior Jordan Porter (South Point, Ohio) placed fifth with a best throw of 15.49m to hold the fourth-best throw in the conference.
In the discus throw, junior Gaza Odunaiya (Athens, Ohio) recorded a throw of 45.09m to place 12th which is also the seventh-best throw in the MAC. The junior went on to place second in the hammer throw with a throw of 54.85m which qualifies as the sixth-best throw in the conference.
In the javelin throw, senior Emma Ryan (Vincent, Ohio) placed fifth overall with a throw reaching 43.97m ranking her with the third-best throw in the MAC.
