Ohio Track and Field’s Ryan Wins Two Events at RedHawk Invitational

HILLSDALE, Mich. – Ohio women's track and field wrapped up a busy weekend competing at the Hillsdale Gina Relays and the Miami Redhawk Invitational. The Bobcats recorded several top-10 finishes over the weekend including two wins in the throws from senior Emma Ryan.

Junior Alyssa Atkinson (Granville, Ohio) was the lone Bobcat competing at the Hillsdale Gina Relays, but managed to record a time of 16:54.62 to place ninth overall.

Running Events
Freshman Abby Summers (Powell, Ohio) was the fastest Bobcat in the 100m where she tied for 10th place with a final time of 12.63. Summers then went on to come in first for Ohio in the 200m with an 11th-place finish and a time of 25.55.

In the 400m, sophomore Marissa Handel (Highland Heights, Ohio) placed fourth overall with a final time of 57.87.

Ohio's first finisher in the 800m was senior Kaitlyn Logan (Granville, Ohio) who placed 12th overall with a time of 2:21.35.

Junior Josie Woosley (Pataskala, Ohio) added another top-10 finish for Ohio with a 1500m time of 4:36.02 to take sixth.

Senior Christina Seas (West Union, Ohio) placed fifth overall in the 5K with a final time of 18:10.12.

In the 100m hurdles, senior Mya Hodge (Dublin, Ohio) placed third after posting a final time of 14.63.

Field Events
In the high jump, Ohio's top performer was sophomore Atiya Spaulding (Chesapeake, Ohio) who placed 10th overall reaching 1.52m.

In the long jump, senior Anna Michael (Lebanon, Ohio) reached 4.93m to secure 11th place.

Freshman Abby Moore (Rootstown, Ohio) placed third in the shot put with a best throw of 13.65m.

Senior Emma Ryan (Vincent, Ohio) posted two wins for Ohio with a first-place finish in the discus where her best throw reached 46.89m and with another first-place finish in the javelin where her best throw reached 44.67m.

Junior Gaza Odunaiya (Athens, Ohio) placed second overall in the hammer throw after a throw of 54.27m.

Ohio track and field returns to action Saturday, May 4 as they host their final meet of the season before the 2018 Mid-American Conference Outdoor Championships. Events are expected to start at 2 p.m. at Ohio's own Goldsberry Track.
