HUNTINGTON, W. Va. – Ohio track and field kicked off the 2018-19 indoor season at the 2018 Marshall Opener on Friday (Dec. 7) where they placed second with a score of 64.
Senior Gaza Odunaiya (Athens, Ohio) placed first overall in the weight throw reaching 18.64m.
Sophomore Abby Moore placed second for Ohio in the shot put with a distance of 13.07m. Junior Tajah Haley (Washington, Pa.) finished fourth with a distance of 11.86 and freshman Autumn Mohan (Chillicothe, Ohio) finished in fifth with a throw of 11.69m.
The running events started off with the 400m dash and Ohio senior Erin Stewart (Chardon, Ohio) finished second with a time of 1:02.00 while freshman Emma Zid (Columbus, Ohio) finished third with a time of 1:03.47
In the 60-meter dash, three Bobcats placed in the top five. The first being senior Thelma Agyekum (Delaware, Ohio) who placed third with a time of 8:01. In fourth place, sophomore Olivia Brewer (Mount Gilead, Ohio) with a time of 8:02 and in fifth sophomore Abby Summers (Powell, Ohio) with a time of 8:07.
In the 600-meter run, Ohio placed first with junior Ashleigh Carr (Oakland, Neb.) coming in at 1:34.81.
After concluding the tri-meet at Marshall, the Bobcats will enter a winter hiatus until competition resumes in 2019. Ohio will travel back to Marshall to compete in the Marshall Women's Classic on Jan. 12, 2019.
