Lexington, Ky. – Ohio track and field finished a competitive day showing multiple high place finishes at the Kentucky Open.
In the hammer throw senior Gaza Odunaiya (Athens, Ohio) would record a fourth place finish with a throw of 55.78m.
Junior Tajah Haley (Washington, Pa.) would finish first in the javelin throw with a top distance of 41.07m. Sophomore Sophie Yantko (Belle Vernon, Pa.) would finish in sixth with a throw of 32.37m.
Freshman Dominque Miller (Mayfield Heights, Ohio) finished in eighth place in the long jump with a final distance of 5.04m.
In the 5000-meter run, freshman Madelyn Bartolone (Massillon, Ohio) would finish in eighth with a time of 18:08.21.
Junior Marissa Handel (Highland Heights, Ohio) would finish seventh in the 400-meter dash with a final time of 59.14.
In the 800-meter run redshirt junior Melissa Koziol (Burton, Ohio) would finish in fourth with a final time of 2:16.98. Following closely behind was senior Josie Woosley (Pataskala, Ohio) finishing in fifth with a final time of 2:18.26.
Appearing in the 3000-meter steeplechase, freshman Jocelyn Knauss (Strongsville, Ohio) would finish in eighth with a final time of 11:52.05.
Redshirt freshman Abby Summers (Powell, Ohio) would compete in the 200-meter dash and finish in eighth with a final time of 25.66.
In the 1500-meter run redshirt junior Madison Sury (Waterford, Ohio) would finish in sixth place with a time of 4:44.50.
The Bobcats will return to action Friday, April 26 and Saturday, April 27. The Jesse Owens Relays will take place in Columbus, Ohio on both days. Ohio will also be hosting the Ohio Open here in Athens, Ohio. Come support your Bobcats!
