JACKSONVIILLE, Fla. -- Redshirt junior Ashleigh Carr (Oakland, Neb.), junior Tajah Haley (Washington, Pa.) and senior Gaza Odunaiya (Athens, Ohio) of the Ohio track & field team all produced solid efforts in their respective events on the opening day of the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships East Preliminary Round.
Carr ran a personal-best time of 58.85 in the first round of the 400-meter hurdles, placing 17th and qualifying for the quarterfinal, which will take place on Friday (May 24) at 7 p.m. ET. The top-12 finishers in the quarterfinal will qualify for the 2019 NCAA Championships (June 5-8) in Austin, Texas.
Haley finished 26th in the first round of the javelin throw with a toss of 45.77 meters
Odunaiya wrapped up her Ohio career with a 40th-place finish in the first round of the hammer throw with a toss of 54.80 meters.
