OXFORD, Ohio -- The Ohio volleyball team (14-14, 8-6 MAC) suffered a 3-0 (25-19, 25-22, 25-13) sweep at the hands of Mid-American Conference East Division archrival Miami (19-8, 11-3 MAC) on Saturday (Nov. 4) in a 'Battle of the Bricks' matchup at Millett Hall.

"Give Miami credit," said fourth-year head coach Deane Webb. "They played and coached at a higher level than we did tonight and deserved to win. Their seven seniors showed great leadership on senior day."

Sophomore outside hitter Lizzie Stephens (Dallas, Texas) led the Bobcats with 10 kills and also had a service ace, an assisted block and six digs. Freshman outside hitter Tia Jimerson (Sugar Hill, Ga.) hit .238 with eight kills and compiled a team-high five total blocks (two solo, three assisted). Sophomore middle blocker/outside hitter Sara Januszewski (Oak Creek, Wis.) added four total blocks (one solo, three assisted), two kills and a dig. Freshman setter Vera Giacomazzi (San Vendemiano, Italy) achieved her team-high 12th double-double and second in a row with 20 assists and a team 16 digs to lead the team. She also had three assisted blocks. Freshman libero Macy Reihing (Lexington, Ky.) notched 15 digs, a service ace and two assists while sophomore libero Meredith Howe (Grand Rapids, Mich.) totaled 11 digs. 

Senior outside hitter Olivia Rusek led the RedHawks with nine kills and hit. 280 for the match. She also recorded two assisted blocks, a service ace and five digs. Senior outside hitter/right side hitter Katie Tomasic logged seven kills, two assisted blocks and four digs. Junior outside hitter/right side hitter Stella Kukoc hit .312 with six kills and had two assisted blocks. Sophomore defensive specialist/outside hitter Taylor Daignault finished the match with six kills, three total blocks (one solo, two assisted) and 13 digs. Senior middle hitter/right side hitter Meredith Stutz posted a match-high six total blocks (two solo, four assisted) and also chipped in four kills, two service aces and three digs. Redshirt junior setter Mackenzie Zielinski recorded a double-double with a team-high 16 assists to go along with 15 digs. She also had a kill. Freshman setter Morgan Seaman totaled 15 assists and six digs. Senior libero Maeve McDonald led the match with 18 digs and also had two service aces and four assists.

Ohio closes out the 2017 regular season with a pair of home matches at the Convocation Center in Athens next weekend. The Bobcats take on MAC East Division rival Kent State next Thursday (Nov. 9) before playing host to MAC West Division foe Central Michigan on Senior Night on Saturday (Nov. 11). Both matches are set to begin at 7 p.m. ET. Ohio will honor the career of redshirt senior middle blocker Ali Lake (Liberty Township, Ohio) prior to Saturday's match against the Chippewas.
