ATHENS, Ohio – The Ohio Volleyball team will welcome two signees for the 2019 season, head coach Deane Webb announced Friday (May 31). Abby Arend and Ciara Livingway are set to join the Bobcats next season.
"Both Abby and Ciara are excellent students and understand the work that it takes to be successful both on and off the court," Webb said. "I'm looking forward to them both being here as we begin our training for Europe."
Livingway and Arend will join incoming freshman Emily Margolies, Olivia Margolies, Caitlin O'Farrell, Jaylen Rogers and Ashton Webb and graduate transfer Shayla Phillip as newcomers in 2019.

- Won three National Qualifiers with Legacy 18 Elite
- Recorded 1,038 digs in varsity career
- 187 aces in varsity career
- All-conference in 2018

WEBB ON LIVINGWAY: "Ciara plays on one of the very best 18 Open teams in the country, so although every player faces a big adjustment when they start college volleyball, I believe she has put herself in position to excel in our gym sooner rather than later. There will be some adjusting on serve receive to the speed of serves in our gym, but defensively she should be ready to go day one."
ABBY AREND | The Woodlands, Texas | The Woodlands High School
- Houston Juniors Volleyball Club member
- Qualified for the Girls' Junior National Championship in 2017 and 2018
- Two-time Academic Honor Roll team member in high school
WEBB ON AREND: "We feel very fortunate that we were able to get a setter the caliber of Abby so late in the year. She has played at a high level in club, and as we watched her I was very impressed with her intensity. She did a particularly good job setting the middles and the opposites, and I look forward to working with her to set the tempo we need in our offense."
