ATHENS, Ohio – The Ohio volleyball team (3-4) is set to play at home at the Convocation Center this weekend for the first time when it hosts the Bobcat Invitational presented by Texas Roadhouse.
Ohio will open its home slate on Friday afternoon against the College of Charleston (0-5) at 12:30 p.m. and will play again Friday night at 7:30 p.m. against UConn (3-3). The Bobcats will finish the tournament facing Virginia (3-4) on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. All matches will be streamed live via ESPN+.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
- Ohio went 2-1 last weekend, defeating American and Winthrop at the American Volleyball Classic. All three matches of the American Volleyball Classic went five sets.
- Senior outside hitter Lizzie Stephens (Dallas, Texas) had a season-high 17 kills on 43 swings against Winthrop. Stephens also had a match-high 5 service aces.
- Junior setter Vera Giacomazzi (San Vendemiano, Italy) is ranked No. 22 in the nation in total assists with 254. In assists per set, Giacomazzi is averaging 10.58 and ranked No. 43 in the nation. Stephens sits at No. 39 in the nation in total service aces with 10.
- Junior opposite Maggie Nedoma (Brook Park, Ohio) and redshirt sophomore middle blocker Dahlias Bouyer (Brownstown, Mich.) were named American Volleyball Classic All-Tournament for their performance last weekend.
Charleston comes into the Bobcat Invitational with an 0-5 record. The Cougars opened the regular season with the defending national champion, Stanford. Tori Carpenter leads the team in overall assists with 64 on the season and averages 4.27 assists per set percentage. Lauren Freed leads the Cougars in kills per set at 2.05.
UConn heads to Athens with a 3-3 record after going 2-1 in the UConn Challenge last weekend, beating CCSU and Iona. Courtney Morris leads the team in assists per set with 8.59 and is ranked No. 135 in the country. Caylee Parker averages 3.71 kills per set and leads the team. Jasmine Davis averaged 2.40 kills per frame and Kennadie Jake-Turner is at 2.22 kills per set.
As a team, UConn sits at No. 66 in blocks per set at 2.34 and No. 255 in kills per set at 11.27.
The Cavaliers enter this weekend on a three-match losing streak. Jelena Nvakovis leads the team in kills (78) and averages kills per set at 3.12. Sarah Billiard sits at 2.12 kills per frame. Kelsey Miller averages 4.45 digs per set and is ranked No. 95 in the nation. As a team, they average 12.4 kills per set and rank No. 163 in the nation. UVA's team blocks per set are 2.56, good for No. 36 in the nation.
