Women's Cross Country Takes Fifth at Pre-Nationals

LOUISVILLE, Ky.  – Ohio women's cross country returns home from a successful weekend at the Pre-National Invitational held in Louisville, Ky. where the Bobcats placed fifth with a team score of 219 points.

Senior Ellen Isaac (Mansfield, Ohio) crossed the line first for the 'Cats and in 11th place out of over 259 other Division I runners at 21:21.0. She helped the team finish behind Nevada (62 points), BYU (96 points), Michigan (170 points), and Arkansas (173 points). The 'Cats placed ahead of 24 other institutions including MAC opponent, Miami (23rd place, 545 points).

Junior Alyssa Atkinson (Granville, Ohio) came in next in for Ohio in 46th place and with a 22:01.2 mark. Junior Madison Sury (Waterford, Ohio), sophomore Abby Miller (Mansfield, Ohio), and freshman Hailey Bowes (Arlington Heights, Ill.) followed shortly after. Sury finished in 55th at 22:10.0, Miller in 64th at 22:14.9, and Bowes in 70th at 22:21.6.

The women will next be seen at the MAC Championships hosted by Miami in Oxford, Ohio on Oct. 28.
